West Milford Volunteers Needed for Bio-terrorism Preparedness Training

The ever-present threat of a terrorist attack has made it necessary for local municipalities to plan and prepare for the safety and well being of their residents.  In the event of a bio-terrorism attack, involving smallpox or other bacterial outbreaks, a POD (Point of Dispensing) would be used to inoculate and dispense medication to area residents.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2005, West Milford will be participating with Ringwood, Wanaque and other area municipalities in a POD exercise.  The Federal government will provide the vaccine, administration supplies, written directions, video demonstrations, the necessary forms and specific information related to the medications.  Each municipality must provide its share of personnel.

People with experience/expertise in the following areas are especially needed: Nurses, Triage, EMT, Referral Personnel, Medical Screeners, Translators, Vaccinators, Clinic Managers, Physician Evaluators, Medical Record Data Entry, Supply Managers, Security/Traffic Control.
