HELP SPREAD WORD THAT DEADLINE CLOSING INIf you know anyone still struggling to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy please remind them the deadline to register for disaster assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency is Jan. 30. FEMA disaster assistance may include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property losses and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance. STILL LOOKING FOR A NEW RENTAL?The state of New Jersey and FEMA have identified more than 700 homes and apartments available for rent in Atlantic, Monmouth and Ocean counties. The exact number of available rentals fluctuates as units are occupied and new listings are added, but up-to-date listings can be found at www.socialserve.com where you can select the New Jersey link to do a search. DISASTER UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE DEADLINE NEARSThe deadline to apply for disaster unemployment assistance is Feb. 4. The program covers self-employed individuals and others left jobless as a direct result of Hurricane Sandy and who may not be covered by regular unemployment insurance. If you plan to file a disaster unemployment assistance claim, you must first file a claim for regular unemployment assistance.
