Mayor’s Message 2012

Dear West Milford Neighbor,

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my warmest wishes to you and your family for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. It remains my honor and privilege to serve as your Mayor, and I promise to continue to work very hard to represent all of you to the best of my ability.

As we begin 2012, I would like to congratulate and welcome Councilwomen CarlLa Horton and Ada Erik as they begin their first term in office. I look forward to working with the new council, continuing to move the township forward and improve our quality of life. Indeed, a new year brings with it the hope of increased cooperation and productivity, perhaps leading to even greater accomplishments.

Although 2011 continued the trend of economically challenging years, your local government constantly explores tax saving measures. I would like to personally thank all township employees for their continued cooperation in this endeavor. Highlights of 2011 range from the $1.5 million cost-cutting reorganization of town hall, to the acquisition of property needed for a new township library, to the appointment of well-respected Gene Chiosie as police chief.

We have much to be thankful for, including friends, family and loved ones. We are also incredibly fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the State, enjoying scenery and wildlife on a daily basis that is rare for most New Jersey residents. Yet despite our blessings, many West Milford residents are struggling financially, physically or emotionally. In 2012, let us all make a resolution to reach out to those neighbors.

On a personal note, I would like to thank all of you for your prayers, cards, and thoughtfulness, which gave my family the fortitude and strength to endure the frightening and challenging aftermath of an auto accident which seriously injured my daughter in 2011. After almost a year, her recovery has been nothing short of a miracle, and she is continuing to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude.

Again, I am truly honored to be your Mayor and wish you all a blessed, healthy and happy New Year.

Warmest Regards,

Bettina
